A story about a looming, Trumpian, biomedical brain drain created a splash on Sunday in a newspaper that reaches millions of readers.

The article was hard to miss. The Los Angeles Times devoted an entire page to the story. All the reader had to do was turn the front page. The headline on the piece ran across the entire width of page A2, and it said:
