Another patient advocate has spoken up for more California state funding to delve into the mysteries of a rare cause of dementia, declaring that a “desperate need” exists for more support.

“Despite its significant burden on individuals and caregivers, FTD (frontotemporal dementia) remains underrecognized and underfunded…,” said Eugenia Welch, president of Alzheimer’s San Diego, in a letter to the directors of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM).
